Day 33
The USA
“In America, first you get the sugar, then you get the women, then you get the power.” Homer Simpson
So I have just landed in the USA for a 3 week research trip to interview some wonderful people with large brains full of knowledge about sugar and fructose.
I am going to brief as my eyes are closer to my mouth than my forehead and I have just had 17 hours of ‘travel’ food. No problems at all hitting the sugar target.
Breakfast (which seems like 3 weeks ago) was Just Right with yoghurt (9) and a can of coconut water ‘with jelly’, 35 grams of sugar or 8 teaspoons.
1 decaf with 2 sugars
On the plane I had a small glass of orange juice and a piece of lemon and frangipani cake ( a combined 10 teaspoons) and a delicious chicken rice dish.
And just now I have ordered a small pizza which had a mango sauce on it (terrible move by me, I blame altitude) and an organic peach fizz juice. (pizza fizz combo 11 teaspoons).
I am going to retire now and get ready for the coming weeks. I did chuckle at a sign coming in from the airport. It was outside the “Coffee Bean’ chain, it said “Now you can have your cake and drink it too!” It is an advertisement for a blended birthday cake smoothie. I am going back to take a photo tomorrow. This leg of the adventure is going to be both fun and terrifying.
Day 33 and a bit and another 40.
